A Night Of Prawn Fishing

It was a windy night. My family brought me to Punggol Promenade for prawn fishing. First, we went to have our dinner. I had a plate of cod fish and a cup of peach soda. After we had finished our dinner, we went to the place called "Hai Bin".  It was a place for people to fish for prawns, fish and crabs. I have chosen to fish for prawns. My daddy paid for 1 hour for the prawn fishing. I was given a fishing rod. First we setup the hook. Secondly, we put the bait which was brown in colour on the hook. We were ready to go "prawning".

My daddy told me to set some expectations so that I would get some results. It was true especially when he fixed on a prawn net. The net was for containing prawns that are caught. I waited for more than half an hour before I caught my first prawn. I was very excited because I did it myself.

My daddy extended another 2 hours. Shortly, we caught the second prawn and it was one of the biggest prawns that night. We caught the third and last prawn near the end of the 2 hours. I returned the rod and brought back the prawns back home.

It was one of my most enjoyable outing with my family whereby I could spend quality time with my daddy and mummy together.

Recipe For Singapore Hainanese Chicken Rice

Singapore Hainanese Chicken Rice
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken.
Firstly, a cleaned chicken with salt, garlic, ginger & scallion stuffed is simmered in boiled water for about 30-40 minutes till the chicken is cooked. After that, remove the chicken and plunge it into ice water for 5 minutes to cool it. By doing that, this will keep the meat soft and tender.  Finally, drain the chicken and rub it with sesame oil.  Reserve the stock to make chicken rice and soup.
Step 2: Prepare the Rice.
To make the chicken rice, wash the rice and stir fry the rice with shallots and garlic until fragrant.  Transfer the rice to a saucepan, add the chicken broth and salt to cook it. Lastly, add sesame oil to the rice and mix well.
Step 3: Serve the Rice with Chicken
When the rice is ready, serve it with Hainanese chicken, chili sauce, dark soy sauce, cucumber and tomato slices and a bowl of hot chicken broth.
